Today's OneChart

I stumbled upon these intriguing statistics from LendingClub, which immediately caught my eye.

According to a survey among American high earners, more than half of Millennials report living paycheck to paycheck.

💡
This includes those who make $250k USD or more annually.

Why is this generation defining?

Well, it appears that even high earners are unable to save money.

This is difficult to comprehend and begs the question of how and why.

If this data chart actually represents reality (I have my doubts, given the quality of most surveys), I believe it should spark dialogue surrounding the sustainability of American lifestyles and others similar to them.

The U.S. has privatized personal risk—think of healthcare and education—and there’s intense consumerist pressure to keep up with the Joneses.

This doesn’t look sustainable at all.
